“I had a photo poster on my wall of a shaded brook and I thought that would be a neat place to have a guy kneeling and drinking from. The funny thing is that, honest to God, after I drew it, years later, I found an N. C. Wyeth painting of an Indian drinking at a pool of water, and it totally looks like I copied it. It’s uncanny. I loved Wyeth, still do, but I had never seen his painting when I drew Pebbles.”
