DK Holland expressing concern in the pages of Communication Arts on the first AIGA conference in the mid-1980s (Aldus was bought by Adobe in 1994):
“A conference sponsored partially by Aldus, a major computer software company when client-accessible software may be contributing to the downfall of our industry. This sponsor’s funding was not allocated toward any effort to aid designers in strengthening their professional stance in this state of siege but, instead, went to the production of many madcap videos (including documentaries of Marty Pedersen of Graphis, going through Caroline Hightower’s underwear drawers and Che Pearlman’s stocking-strewn hotel bathroom).”
