Art Chantry on culture

“I believe that when a culture thrives it is because it is being refreshed by bubbling underground subcultures that somehow affect mainstream thought. Yet now there are very few fresh ideas being shoved up from underneath. In fact no trash is being allowed in either, which I believe is a necessary factor to push on innovation. The computer revolution is perhaps the only bright spot. Although there will be a lot of very bad design, out of all that stuff will come some really neat accidents. The natural weirdos are going to be able to do good stuff because that is what they can do.”
